Special Response Battalion (SRB)-10 has deployed security teams at around 1,841 puja mandaps, Commander Mohammad Asaduzzaman said on Tuesday.
An additional deputy inspector general, Asaduzzaman briefed reporters after visiting Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital. “Fifteen pickup patrol teams and 28 motorcycle patrol teams are working round the clock,” he said, adding that plainclothes personnel, commandos, bomb disposal units, and drone teams were conducting surveillance around the mandaps. Checkpoints and control rooms have been set up near the mandaps, with special forces on standby to respond to disturbances. Naval patrols will ensure safe idol immersion on Bijoya Dashami, he said.
The unit’s intelligence wing is coordinating with puja committees to identify threats, while its cyber monitoring cell is tracking social media for rumors, communal provocation, and content that could hurt religious sentiments. Help desks are also assisting women, children, elderly people, and visitors with disabilities.
SRB-10 is also working with local police to manage traffic and crowds, while mobile teams and courts are ready to maintain law and order. Emergency services are available at major venues, and personnel are regularly visiting mandaps to assist visitors.
Meanwhile, the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) has formed a central monitoring cell under the direction of its Director General, Brig Gen Sultanul Afreen Junaid, to oversee fire safety at puja mandaps and coordinate emergency response. The cell is coordinating with control rooms, divisional monitoring cells, and fire stations to issue instructions and ensure a swift response to emergencies, the FSCD said.
FSCD Dhaka Division Deputy Director Mohammad Saleh Uddin and other senior officials visited the cell on Tuesday.
