China hospital honours BMU Prof Rafiqul Islam

A special reception was held at Pudong Gongli Hospital in Shanghai, China, in honour of Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, Professor of the Department of Urology at Bangladesh Medical University and Health Affairs Secretary of the ruling party BNP.
Dr Rafiqul arrived in China on 25 October at the invitation of the Shanghai hospital to receive specialised training in robotic surgery, reads a press release on Wednesday.
Prof Zhong Wang, Head of the Department of Urology and Endourology at the hospital, delivered the welcome address and praised Prof Rafiqul’s professional expertise and vision for the development of Bangladesh’s healthcare sector.
Speaking at the event, Prof Rafiqul sought China’s cooperation in expanding advanced training opportunities, fellowships, expert knowledge exchange, and technical support for Bangladeshi doctors in robotic surgery.
He also underscored the need to develop skilled human resources, strengthen research capacity, and establish long-term partnerships between hospitals and medical institutions in Bangladesh and China to build a modern, technology-driven healthcare system in Bangladesh. At the end of the ceremony, Prof Zhong Wang presented Prof Rafiqul Islam with a commemorative memento on behalf of Pudong Gongli Hospital.
