Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Monday held an awareness meeting and distributed leaflets in Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla to promote dengue prevention and environmental cleanliness.
The organisation's Nangalkot upazila unit arranged the programme at Jaman's Kindergarten auditorium, bringing together students, teachers and local figures to discuss ways to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.
Unit President AKM Maruf Hossain presided over the meeting, with former Nangalkot municipal mayor AKM Moniruzzaman Khan attending as chief guest.
The unit's General Secretary Saiful Islam, Jaman's Kindergarten Headmistress Rubina Akter and other dignitaries and students also attended.
Speakers urged households, schools and communities to keep their surroundings clean and remove stagnant water from rooftops, flower tubs, discarded containers, coconut shells and tyres to prevent Aedes mosquitoes from breeding.
They also advised people to seek prompt medical attention for fever rather than resort to self-medication.
After the meeting, organisers distributed leaflets among students, urging them to promote hygiene and environmental cleanliness in their communities.
