BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has alleged that a political party is attempting to make the upcoming 13th parliamentary election controversial and difficult.

Without naming the party, he said a leader recently made extremely offensive remarks about working women.

“When people started protesting, he claimed that his account was hacked. But officials have confirmed it was not hacked. The party is spreading lies,” Tarique said while addressing an election rally during his first-ever political visit to Jashore on Monday afternoon.

He further alleged that those who “lie to the people of the country are now collecting bkash numbers.”

Terming it a reflection of their character, Tarique urged everyone to remain vigilant and careful about them.

Addressing the people of Jashore, he said, “Jashore has a thriving flower cultivation industry. Just as garments are exported, we also aim to export flowers abroad.”

The BNP chief arrived in Jashore at 2:18pm by helicopter. At the programme, he introduced 22 BNP candidates from seven districts in the Jashore and Kushtia regions.

Earlier in the day, he addressed a massive election rally in Khulna.
