BNP Standing Committee Member and Member of Parliament Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan on Saturday said his party wants to build an equitable society in Bangladesh.
He made the remarks at a memorial meeting marking the 15th death anniversary of Marhuma Khorsheda Banu, organized by the Khan Foundation at Madhabdi in Narsingdi.
"We will continue working to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor so that the people of this country can live in peace and prosperity," he said.
Addressing the women present at the program, Moin Khan urged them to become aware of their rights. "No one will give you your rights unless you claim them yourselves. At best, we can stand by your side and support you, and we have been doing so consistently," he said.
Recalling the contributions of the late Khorsheda Banu, Khan Foundation Executive Director Advocate Rokhsana Khandaker said she was a loving mother and a noble woman who worked for the country's welfare.
"The Khan Foundation has been working since 1993 to empower underprivileged and disadvantaged women through various development programs," she added.
Moyeen Khan's three daughters—Naushin Khan, Naurin Khan, and Nahrin Khan—also addressed the program via Skype from abroad and sought prayers for their grandparents.
Among others, the deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, senior district and upazila administration officials, the vice-chancellor of Millennium University, and other distinguished guests also spoke at the event.
A special prayer was offered at the end of the program, seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Khorsheda Banu.
