CID busts 'biggest' question leak gang, arrests 9

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has claimed to have arrested nine members of 'the biggest' gang who used to leak question papers of different public examinations including that of Bangladesh Civil Service in digital ways.

With these arrests, a total 46 members of the gang have so far been held, said additional inspector general Sheikh Niyamat Hossain at a press conference at CID conference room around 12pm on Thursday.

The detainees including government officials and students of Dhaka University were arrested in different times of last week, said the CID official claiming that the gang has been uprooted completely.

The arrestees are Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, senior officer of Janata Bank, Abdur Rahman Ramiz, second year student of Pharmacy of Dhaka University, Saidur Rahman Sayeed, third year student of Green University, Muhaiminul Islam, fourth year student of DU Pharmacy department, Rimon Hossain, student of Green University, businessman Masud Rahman Tajul, Agrani Bank cash officer Jahangir Alam, Mosharaf Hossain, a messenger of Dhaka college and Ashim Bishwas, former student of Dhaka College.

The CID official said the questions were leaked in two steps. A gang leaks question and another gang solved the question collecting it on the exam day. Then, they supply those to candidates through digital devices.

Earlier, the CID team pointed out the question leak gang and arrested several members of the gang.

“This time we have managed to arrested most members of the gang,” said the additional inspector general.

Earlier, an organized team of CID arrested Alip Kumar Biswas, assistant director of BKSP and mastermind of question paper leakage gang, Assistant Administrative Officer of BADC Mostafa Kamal, government school teacher (recommended) of 36th BCS non-cadre Ibrahim, 38th BCS preliminary qualified Ayub Ali Badhan, and three others.
