The National Occupational Health and Safety Day will be observed in the country on Sunday.
The theme of this year day is ‘Safe working atmosphere, Bangladesh towards sustainable development’.The government has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day.
A rally will be brought out from the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh at 7am which will parade upto the Jatiya Press Club.
A discussion will be held at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh auditorium at 4pm where Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will be present as the chief guest with State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian in the chair.
Meanwhile, the government is going to award 24 companies for their role in ensuring occupational health and safety at their respective entities, on the occasion.
The awards will be handed over to the companies at a programme on Sunday, said the state minister for labour and employment at a briefing on Saturday.
Besides, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion.In his message, the President urged the government, owners, workers and development partners to work unitedly to ensure workers’ occupational health and safe working environment.
The Prime Minister in her message called upon the factory owners, investors and entrepreneurs to maintain the sustainable industrialisation and growth of productivity through ensuring safe working environment and health of working people.
