Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Friday said Bangladesh has turned into ‘an ineffective and failed state’.
He came up with this observation while exchanging greetings with members of the Buddhist community on the occasion of the Buddha Purnima-2019 at BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s political office at Gulshan in the city.Khandaker Mosharraf said, “Farmers are not getting fair price of their paddy. They are setting their Boro paddy fields on fire. There is no scope of undermining the issue.”
Emphasising on democratic practices in the country, the BNP leader also claimed that BNP’s popularity has increased across the country.
“BNP’s popularity has increased due to government oppression on its activists and leaders,” Khandaker Mosharraf said.
BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice chairman Selima Rahman, Barkatullah Bulu, Khaleda Zia’a advisor Dr Sukomal Barua and Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front convener Gautam Chakraborty, among others, were present in the meeting.
