One BCL leader expelled 4 suspended over Madhur Canteen scuffle

A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Dhaka University unit has been expelled and four other leaders suspended from the organisation following the attack on deprived leaders at Madhur Canteen.

The decision was disclosed on Monday through a press release signed by BCL presedent Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani.

BCL’s Central Executive Council took the decision amid protest by a section of BCL men following the scuffle over the formation of its full-fledged central committee on May 13.

Salman Sadiq, an activist of Zia Hall BCL unit, was expelled permanently for his involvement in the attack and violating the organisation's discipline, said a statement of the BCL.

Four other leaders—Gazi Mursalin Anu, general secretary of BCL’s science faculty, Zia Hall unit members Kazi Siam, Sazzadul Kabir and former member of central executive council Zarin Dia were suspended for the same same charges, it said.
