Country’s busiest naval route Kathalbari-Shimulia is ready to face the crowd of 21 south-western districts. For the occasion of Eid the route is prepared with 18 ferries, 87 launches and more than 200 speedboats.
BIWTC authority informed that at present 16 ferries are providing service including 3 Roof ferries, 6 flat ferries, 4 K-type ferries and 3 mediums.But on the eve of Eid two more ferries will be added from 26th of Ramadan to tackle the huge crowd.
Kathalbari ferry ghat terminal’s superintendent MD Faruk Hossain said, on the occasion of Eid there is plenty of ferries. Besides, the route is now free from navigational crisis which will help the passengers to reach their destination in time.
The authority of BIWTC has also been kept strict monitoring on local bus to avoid traffic jam in the ghat area.
BIWTC’s Kathalbari launch ghat’s Traffic Inspector Akhter Hossain said, 87 Launches will be used to ensure smooth passenger service. Already defective launches are sent to dockyard for repairing. Hopefully these launches will resume service before Eid.
To avoid any sort of unwanted incident, strict monitoring will also be there at the launch ghat.
