CGPA-4 scale to be introduced in public exams instead of GPA-5

The Education Ministry has decided to introduce the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) 4 system for the results of the next JSC examinations of the country.

Under this method, examinees of Junior School Certificate (JSC), Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) will no longer obtain GPA-5.

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni on Wednesday had a meeting with Inter Education Board Coordination Committee where she instructed to make a draft after rearranging the grading system.

While talking to journalists, Inter Education Board Chairman and President Prof Ziaul Haque said, “In the meeting with the Inter Board Coordination Committee, all have agreed to publish results following the scale of 4 instead of CGPA-5.”

“But we will discuss the matter with different stakeholders. We will analyse the results of other countries of the world. And depending on various variables, we well prepare the new grading scale of 4. If possible, we will publish the results in CGPA-4 from this year’s JSC exam,” he said.
