Derailment disrupts Dhaka-Mymensingh train service

Train services on Dhaka-Mymensingh route remained suspended following the derailment of a local train in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.

Confirming the news, Abdur Rahman Biswash, officer-in-charge of Government Railway Police (GRP) in Kishoreganj, said the locomotive of the Mymensingh-bound train from Kishoreganj’s Bhairab veered off the tracks near Kishoreganj Railway Station around 9:00am.

The train communication in Mymensingh-Dhaka-Chattogram route remained cut off following the derailment, he said.

Meanwhile, a Kishoreganj-bound train Probhati Express got stuck at Gochihata Railway Station while a Chattogram-bound train Nasirabad Express from Mymensingh is waiting at Ishwarganj Railway Station following the derailment.

According to the sources, a rescue train from Akhaura of Brahmanbaria started journey for the spot to salvage the derailed train.
