New food menu introduced for prisoners

The prisoners in the jails of Bangladesh had been taking the same menu in the breakfast since the British era. But finally, the banal food menu has been changed from Sunday morning, the prisoners enjoyed some toothsome items in their breakfast.

According to the new menu, prisoners were served bread with vegetables for today’s breakfast instead of regular menu—bread and ‘Gur’ (molasses).

Confirming the matter, jailer of Keraniganj Central jail Mahbubul Islam said the prisoners will be served bread and vegetables for breakfast four days in a week, vegetable hotchpotch for two days in a week and bread and Halua for one day as per the new menu.

Earlier, a prisoner was served with flour bread weighing 116.6 grams and sugarcane molasses weighing 14.58 grams in the breakfast while a detainee was allotted bread weighing 87.68 grams and sugarcane molasses weighing 14.58 grams.
