BCB ends contract with coach Steve Rhodes

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday ended contract with country’s head cricket coach Steve Rhodes in a mutual separation after disappointing World Cup performance of the Tigers, media reports.

The BCB took the decision day after Tigers returned home from UK on Sunday afternoon ending World Cup mission at eighth spot.

Rhodes would be replaced by the Tigers’ team manager Khaled Mahmud Sujon or former coach Chandika Hathurusingha and will be with Bangladesh team in upcoming 3-match One Day International (ODI) series in Sri Lanka this July.

On 7 June 2018 Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed Rhodes head coach for the national team until the end of the 2020 ICC World Twenty20.

Bangladesh cricket team participated the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with the target of qualifying into the World Cup semi-finals but the Tigers’ managed to get 7 point only winning three matches and was placed at eighth on point table.

In July 2018 Rhodes lost his first series as Bangladesh coach when West Indies won the two-match Test series 2–0.
