SC dismisses Moudud’s review petition, no bar on his graft trial

The Supreme Court on Sunday maintained its earlier order which upheld the High Court directive clearing the way to continue the trial proceedings of a graft case against BNP’s central leade Moudud Ahmed.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain led six-member bench of the Appellate Division of the SC dismissed a petition filed by Moudud, seeking review of its earlier order.

Earlier on May 14, the SC upheld the HC order that cleared the way to continue the trial proceedings against Moudud.

On April 8 this year, the HC summarily rejected a revision petition filed by Moudud challenging the lower court order that dismissed his application for halting the trial proceedings.

On September 16, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case with Gulshan Police Station against Moudud on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 7.38 crore and concealing information about his wealth worth Tk 4.40 crore.
