EC employee among 3 held in NID fraudulence

Chattogram Election Commission authorities on Monday detained three persons for their alleged involvement in making Rohingya people voters and help them to get National Identity (NID) cards.

Confirming the matter, Munir Hossain Khan, an official of the Chattogram district Election Commission office, said that three men were identified and detained after being monitored their activities for a few days.

“They were detained around 11:00 pm on Monday night and they were being quizzed,” Munir Hossain added.

The detained EC employee was identified as Md. Joynal Abedin, 35, an office assistant of the Doublemuring Thana EC office and two others were his aide.

The detained frauds will be handed over to the law enforcing agency very soon, Munir Hossain said.

However, after being informed, a team of Chattogram Kotwali police station arrived at the EC office. Police would take the detainees to their custody, EC file a case against them and police will interrogate them later.
