Jubo league leaders to be expelled if arrested over casino issue: Omar Faruque

Awami Jubo League (JL) chairman Omar Faruque on Friday issued stern warning to the leaders and activists of his organisation that if anyone gets arrested in drives against casinos, he or she will be expelled.

He uttered the warnings while addressing the triennial council of ward no 1, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49 and 50 of Jubo League Dhaka north city unit at Azampur Government Primary School ground in the capital’s Uttara area.

“This is not a ministry of Babar Ali (Lutfozzaman Babar) or Khaleda Zia. It is the law enforcing agency of Sheikh Hasina. If any leader or activist found involved running casinos will be axed from the organisation,” he warned.

The JL chairman said, “I thank law enforcing agencies. Arrest those who are running casinos, no matter how influential leaders they are. Arrest me too if I am involved.”

“Newspapers are overflown with reports on casinos. It is claimed that casinos owners are from Jubo League. If I got the information earlier I could take action against the culprit,” he added.

Omar Faruque also warned that those, who run casinos using organisation’s shield, will be expelled and they will have no right to do politics.
