2 killed as bus collided with auto-bike in Tangail

At least two people, including a woman, were killed and one more injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and an auto-bike at Garabari area on Bhuapur-Tarakandi road in Tangail on Sunday noon.

The deceased were identified as Liakat Ali Khan, 55, son of Danesh Ali, hailing from Jagatpur village at Arjuna union of the upazila and Anwara Begum, 50, wife of Fajar Ali, a resident of Bhalkutia village of of Gobindasi union under upazila.

The injured was identified as Shahin Shah, is an auto-bike driver.

Confirming the news, Md Liton Mia, sub-inspector (SI) of Bhuapur Police Station, said that a Gopalpur-bound passenger bus of ‘Farida Enterprise’ from Tangail collided with a Bhuapur-bound auto-bike coming from opposite direction at the area around 1:30 pm, leaving two passenger of auto-bike dead on the spot and its driver critically injured.

Later, the injured was taken to Tangail General Hospital for better treatment, he said.

Police seized the killer bus and its driver fled the scene after the accident, the SI said.
