Three killed in Sherpur road accident

Three people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and an auto-rickshaw at Citholia in Nakla upazila on Sunday evening.

Two of the deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Billal Hossain, 22, and Habibur Rahman, 50, of Geramara village in Jamalpur while the identity of the other victim could not be known yet.

Police and locals said six people were severely injured when a passenger bus from Sherpur rammed into an auto-rickshaw around 7pm at Citholia.

Locals took the injured to Nakla Upazila Health Complex where Billal succumbed to his injuries. Two others died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) around 10pm.

Three of the injured are being treated at MMCH, police said.

Md Alamgir Shah, officer-in-charge of Nakla Police Station, said they are trying to seize the bus and arrest its driver.
