Animal sacrifice continued in Dhaka city on the second day of Eid. Although the number is higher in Old Dhaka, the busyness of sacrifices has also been seen in other areas of the capital. Many people say that even if the sacrifice is made on the second day, the mood is the same as the day of Eid.

According to Islamic rules, animal sacrifice can be performed on the 11th (second day of Eid) and 12th (third day of Eid) of the month of Zilhaj in addition to the day of Eid. And in the light of this law, many are slaughtering sacrificial animals on the second day.

On Tuesday, the second day of Eid, animal sacrifices were seen in various alleys and main roads of Old Dhaka. The same picture was seen in Gabtali, Gulshan, Mirpur, Mouchak, Uttara, Banani, Badda and other areas of the capital.

Old Dhaka covers most of the South City Corporation. The custom of offering sacrifices on the second day of Eid in these areas has been going on for a long time. The mood of Qurbani on the second day is the same as that of Eid.

In Badda, Gulisthan, Bangshal, Hazaribagh, Bakshibazar, Armanitola, Malitola, the residents sacrificed animals early in the morning like on the day of Eid. Many animals were sacrificed in these areas on the first day as well.

While crossing Badda area in the morning, this correspondent found a good number of animals were sacrificed. The number of sacrifices on the second day has decreased than the previous day.

When asked the reason for offering sacrifice on the second day, most people mentioned the reason for the butcher crisis on the first day. Many also sacrifice on the second day to maintain family tradition.

Many people are now following this custom in new Dhaka like old Dhaka. They choose the second day of Eid for sacrifice mainly because of the high wages of butchers and their availability.

However, the activity of the City Corporation staff was seen removing waste. After the sacrifice, they are carrying the waste in the cart.

Eid-ul-Azha, the second-largest religious festival of Muslims, was celebrated across the country on Monday.
