Masud Sayeedi, former chairman of Jianagar Upazila in Pirojpur, has alleged that for the past 15 years, the authoritarian government filed thousands of false cases against Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and other opposition political parties.

Masud Sayeedi also said, "The night my father (Delwar Hossain Sayeedi) died, the police fired rubber bullets, sound grenades, and tear gas at innocent Sayeedi followers in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and charged them with batons. Yet, after that heinous incident, the police themselves filed a case against me under the Explosives Act. My father was murdered, and I ended up being the accused!"

The Hasina government, ousted by public outrage, has subjected Islamic scholars and thinkers to brutal torture. It has crippled the country's economy, turning Bangladesh into a devastated state through corruption, bank looting, and money laundering abroad.

He further said that the government has attempted to solidify its power by politicizing the judiciary and the administration.

Masud Sayeedi made these comments during a public meeting organised by the Pirojpur district unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at Jujkhola High School field in Sadar Upazila on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by Abdur Rob, the Ameer of Shikdar Mallik Union in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila, and conducted by Kazi Jalal, the union secretary.

Valiant freedom fighter and Pirojpur district unit Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Tofazzal Hossain Farid was present as the chief guest.

Sadar Upazila Ameer Maulana Siddiqur Rahman, District Ulema Division Ameer Maulana Abdul Halim, Municipal Ameer Abdur Razzak, district team member Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud, and Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Pirojpur district secretary Md. Imran Hossain, among others were present.

Masud Sayeedi said, “During Sheikh Hasina's 15 years of authoritarian rule, thousands of false cases were filed, and millions of leaders and activists from Jamaat and opposition parties were imprisoned and harassed to consolidate power. Numerous individuals were disappeared, the actual number of which remains unknown to the nation. Many of our activists were killed through staged crossfire incidents. We spent every day and night in anxiety. All our central offices, as well as those in metropolitan, district, and grassroots levels, were shut down, and everything was looted from these offices. We were not given even the smallest space anywhere. We were treated with extreme cruelty.”

He further said 11 of our leaders were unjustly taken from us. Five were sentenced to death in fabricated cases and executed. Five passed away in prison. Among our leaders, Allama Sayeedi, a revered Quranic scholar, was deliberately killed in the hospital instead of being treated.
