Education Adviser Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar has said he was offered a Tk 1 crore bribe for a high-level posting within the government, but he rejected it outright.
“I am revealing the secret so that all my colleagues can stay rigid on our moral stance,” he made the remark in response to a question from reporters during a press conference held at his ministry office in Dhaka on Wednesday.
“Once a renowned intellectual tried to pursue me through one of my near ones, luring me with Tk one crore for the purpose, but I outright rejected the proposal,” he said.
He also recalled the zero tolerance policy against corruption and said he has no will to promote corruption at any strata in life.
