Police have detained at least 102 people for suspected involvement in a brutal attack by teenage gang members that left three persons, including a police personnel, injured in the capital's Adabor area on Monday night.
Tejagon Division's Deputy Commissiner Ibn Mizan and the division's Mohammadpur Zone Assistant Commissioner AKM Mehedi Hasan confirmed the arrests, when contacted by reporters.
Some of the detainees were directly involved in the attack that left police van driver Al-Amid with deep wounds in his arm, the officers said. Police were scrutinising the identities of other detainees.
Raids by joint forces were continuing in the Mohammadpur and Adabor areas as of 3am Tuesday, said AKM Mehedi Hasan.
Around 11pm Monday, a team of police went to a garage at Adabor, responding to a 999 call over factional conflict.
All of a sudden, two notorious members of a "teenage gang" attacked the police vehicle. They hacked Al-Amin, who was standing next to the vehicle. Al-Amin was rushed to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
