IUBAT hosts global workshop on environment, education, and youth leadership

The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) recently organised a day-long international workshop titled “Global Environmental Policy, Green Education, Leadership and Communication 2025” at its campus in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Initiated by the Bashundhara Shuvosangho IUBAT Chapter, the event focused on key issues including environmental protection, sustainable education, effective communication, and youth leadership.

Experts, educators, and trainers from both national and international backgrounds actively participated in the workshop.

They emphasised the urgent need for youth engagement in environmental conservation efforts and encouraged students to take proactive roles in creating sustainable communities.

The workshop began at 10am with a welcome address and proceeded with several interactive sessions. Nargis Akhtar led a discussion on environmental policies, climate change, and the Sustainable Development Goals. MA Mahmud Yomin spoke on eco-friendly lifestyles and the importance of building green habits.

Participants then engaged in group activities aimed at developing practical solutions to real-world environmental issues.

Abir Al Hasmi conducted a session on modern teaching strategies and communication skills, while Rehan Dastagir and other speakers participated in a panel discussion, responding to student questions.

Later, MA Mahmud Yomin returned for a session on building international leadership competencies.

At the end of the workshop, participants received certificates and took part in a group photo session to mark the event’s conclusion.

Md Nafiz Hasan presented a visual report on the activities of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, showcasing the organisation’s social and environmental initiatives.

Dipto Pal, president of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho IUBAT Chapter, inaugurated the event.

He highlighted the importance of youth involvement in addressing environmental challenges, describing the workshop as a meaningful step in that direction.

Several organising committee members, including Dipto Pal, Md Nafiz Hasan, Apurba Das Turjo, Arpita Biswas, Zahara Kabir, Md Tanzil Ahmed Chowdhury, Shovon Kumar Shil, Raimun Biswas, and Abdus Salam Sayem, played key roles in the successful execution of the programm.

Distinguished guests and speakers shared their insights throughout the day.

Prof Abdur Rab, vice-chancellor of IUBAT, called on students to develop environment-friendly innovations. Prof M Mahmudur Rahman, pro-vice Chancellor, emphasised integrating environmental awareness into the core of education. MA Mahmud Yomin underlined the global importance of environmental policy and youth engagement.

International trainer Nasrin Nadri stressed the need for leadership in every professional field. Researcher Nargis Akhtar advocated for effective implementation of environmental policies.

Biena Bai from the Asian University for Women spoke on the necessity of international cooperation. Taslima Khan Usha from the Ministry of Education discussed the integration of environmental policies into educational curricula.

Other speakers, including Prof Rehan Dastagir, Md Forhad Hossain, Md Amirul Momenin Manik, Engineer Md Kawsik Ahmed, Shamim Ahmed, and Syed Rethwanul Kabir, addressed various dimensions of environmental responsibility, from education and corporate accountability to the role of technology and communication.

Organisers expressed optimism that the workshop would enhance environmental awareness, leadership capacity, and communication skills among students, equipping them to act as responsible and engaged global citizens.
