President Mohammed Shahabuddin has achieved a unique milestone in the history of Bangladesh. Elected as the 22nd President on 13 February 2023 during the Awami League government, he has now become the first head of state to swear in three different administrations in less than three years.

On Tuesday, he administered the oath of office to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman as prime minister and to members of his cabinet at a ceremony held at the South Plaza of the Parliament Building in Dhaka. The BNP assumed office after winning the 13th parliamentary election held on 12 February.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin also swore in the interim government led by Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus on 8 August 2024. The interim administration took office following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on 5 August 2024 amid the historic mass uprising of 2024.

Prior to that, on 11 January 2024, he administered the oath to the Awami League government after the national election held that year. However, that administration was short-lived.
