Sharwar Alam, principal of Mohishkhocha Multipurpose High School and College in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat, has been reportedly drawing salary and allowances despite remaining absent for nearly two years.

According to the allegation, Sharwar Alam who went into hiding during July uprising in 2024, became principal of the institution on 19 January 2012, using political influence and without meeting the required experience criteria.

In 2024, after getting a written complaint from teachers, students, and guardians, Aditmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) formed an investigation committee, which reportedly found evidence of irregularities and recommended action.

The then UNO Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui later suspended him. However, the suspension was lifted after three months, and salary payments resumed.

Students and guardians expressed frustration over the situation. Student Majedul alleged that classes are rarely held and accused the principal of embezzling funds allocated for infrastructure development. Guardian Nazrul Islam also claimed that corruption and mismanagement have pushed the institution towards collapse.
Assistant Headmaster (acting) Tamizar Rahman said the principal has not attended the institution since the beginning of the unrest and remains out of contact. Assistant Prof ATM Ataur Rahman alleged that the principal continues to receive salary despite his prolonged absence, contributing to growing irregularities among staff.

After being contacted, the current UNO of Aditmari upazila Bidhan Kanti Halder noted that the absentee principal has applied for rejoining and the matter is under review.
