Former Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Sitangshu Kumar Sur, also known as SK Sur Chowdhury, was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for failing to submit a wealth statement.
Judge Ayesha Nasrin of Dhaka Special Judges' Court-2 delivered the verdict, ACC prosecutor Abul Kalam Azad said.
Sur was produced before the court from jail and sent back to prison with a conviction warrant after the verdict.
The ACC arrested the former central bank official in the capital's Segunbagicha on 14 January, and he has remained behind bars since.
