15 Sundarbans robbers surrender in Khulna

Fifteen members of the Alif Bahini, a robbery gang operating in the Sundarbans, surrendered to Special Response Battalion (SRB-6) on Friday, according to a press release issued by the battalion’s media cell on Saturday.
Of the surrendered members, eight belonged to the Abdullah group and seven to the Majid group.
The surrender is expected to improve security in the Sundarbans, where thousands of fishermen, woodcutters, honey collectors and other forest-dependent people earn their livelihoods.
Piracy, abductions and ransom demands have long threatened people working in the forest. In response, SRB-6 and other law enforcement agencies have stepped up operations to curb such crimes.
