BSTI bans 22 more products

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has found 22 more food items substandard for human consumption. The items are of 21 companies listed in second phase.

They canceled licenses of two companies, suspended licenses of  11 companies and filed cases against eight companies which have no licenses, said a press release of BSTI.

The BSTI recently collected 406 samples of food items from the market from across the country and tested those at its laboratory. 

In the first phase they got results of 52 food items which have been found substandard.

Later, they canceled licenses of 25 companies, suspended license of one company and lifted ban on 25 products as those products met BSTI’s quality requirement.

In second phase, 22 items were found substandard, BSTI sources said.

The BSTI cancelled license of Three Star Flower Mill of Bandar Chottogram for its Three Star brand turmeric powder and Agro Organic Product LTD of Dhaka for its Khusbu Ghee.

The BSTI lists of substandard products are Pran premium Ghee, Radhuni Coriander powder and cumin powder, Culson Lachaa Vermicilli, A-7 Ghee, Green Mountain Butter oil, Muskan Iodine Salt, Confidence Iodine Salt, Madina Lachaa Vermicilli, Camel idolized Salt and Nazrul Iodized salt.
