Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has requested the local and foreign diplomats to engage different governments and civil society members internationally to assist for a safe environment and oversee the repatriation process of Rohingya refugees.

The honorary consul generals of different countries working in Bangladesh and abroad have been sent a letter in this regard, said press release issued by Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

In the letter, the foreign minister also said that Bangladesh does not have the capacity to indefinitely host Rohingya refugees who fled persecution in Myanmar.

Longer staying of these refugees would be a threat to security and stability of this region, the press release added.

Bangladesh is trying to end the crisis mutually, but, due to the lack of support and less interest from Myanmar, repatriation process of Rohingya people still hangs in balance, said Foreign Minister Momen expecting active support from international communities.
