The World Day against Child Labor will be observed today in the country as elsewhere in the world to focus attention on the global extent of child labour and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it.

Each year on 12 June, the day brings together governments, employers and workers organizations, civil society, as well as millions of people from around the world to highlight the plight of child labourers and what can be done to help them, reports BSS.

This year’s theme of the day is set as “Children shouldn’t work in fields, but on dreams”.

On the eve of the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave a message with a call for a more effective role of private organisations, individuals, national and international agencies, civil society and media alongside the government to prevent child labour and work for well being of children.
