Indo-Bangla coast guards hold meeting

A high-level meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) was held at Coast Guard Headquarters in the capital on Monday.

Bangladesh Coast Guard director general Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haq led the Bangladesh side while Indian Coast Guard director general Krishnaswamy Natarajan led the Indian site during the meeting.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed different border issues including drug smuggling, arms trading, human trafficking, illegal intrusion and fishing in the maritime boundary between these two nations.

Besides, mutual cooperation and training to improve professional skills of Coast Guard members of the two countries were also discussed.

Earlier, a smart Coast Guard contingent presented a guard of honour to the Indian Coast Guard DG on his arrival at the Coast Guard Headquarters.

The chief of Indian Coast Guard arrived in Dhaka on Sunday on a four-day official visit to Bangladesh. The chief of indian coast guard is accompanied by two delegation members.
