Pundra University celebrates International Accounting Day

Pundra University of Science and Technology, the oldest private university in Bogura, celebrated “International Accounting Day” for the first time on Monday.
To mark the occasion, teachers, officers, and students of the university brought out a colourful rally on campus. The rally started in front of the new academic building, paraded around the campus, and concluded at the same spot.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Chittaranjan Mishra, Treasurer Prof Muha Suzan Shah-E-Fazlul, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Ahsan, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof Dr Ahmed Sharif Talukdar, Registrar Dr SJ Anwar Zahid, Director (Finance) Afsar Ali, Head of the Department of Business Administration Ali Hasan, among others, were present at the event.
Following the rally, Vice-Chancellor Chittaranjan Mishra, in his speech, said, “The 531-year-old accounting equation — Assets = Liabilities + Owner’s Equity — introduced by Luca de Pacioli, remains equally relevant and dominant in today’s business world.”
Treasurer Prof Muha Suzan Shah-E-Fazlul said, “In this era of technology, it is essential to embrace the challenges posed by AI, and advance accounting education and practice accordingly.”
Afsar Ali FCMA added that by observing the “International Accounting Day” the Pundra University has joined the global community in honouring the important discipline of accounting.
It is worth noting that “International Accounting Day” is observed worldwide on 10 November each year to honour Luca de Pacioli, the father of accounting.
