University of Creative Technology Chittagong: A Rising Hub of Innovation, Technology, and Excellence
A A

Founded in 2017 with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, the University of Creative Technology Chittagong (UCTC) has swiftly emerged as one of the country’s most promising private universities. Located in Bahaddarhat, Chattogram, UCTC is dedicated to providing a creative, modern, and technology-driven education that prepares students to meet the challenges of an evolving global landscape.

MODERN FOUNDATION AND VISIONARY LEADERSHIP

UCTC currently operates three faculties  –  Engineering, Business Studies, and Arts & Social Sciences  –  offering ten undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Around 3,000 students are currently enrolled, guided by 70 full-time faculty members, most of whom hold advanced degrees from internationally reputed universities.

The university’s Founder and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Mr Mohammad Osman, a noted human rights activist and education entrepreneur, stated:

“UCTC may be a young university, but our progress has been remarkable. We are committed to offering affordable, high-quality education in line with UGC guidelines, while maintaining global standards.”

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Zahid Hossain Sharif, a distinguished public health expert and freedom fighter, added:

“UCTC is an innovative institution for the new generation. Since its inception, we have strived to build a research-oriented, science and technology-based creative university. Our mission is to transform UCTC into a world-class institution through education, research, and technological advancement.”

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING: SHAPING INNOVATORS OF TOMORROW

The Faculty of Engineering (School of Science and Engineering) offers four major undergraduate programmes: BSc in Civil Engineering, BSc in Mechanical Engineering, BSc in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE).

These programmes are designed to instil technical excellence, creativity, and adaptability to global demands for sustainable and AI-integrated technologies. Students engage in research, technical clubs, and practical projects bridging theory and application. Many faculty members, holding postgraduate degrees from countries such as Sweden, the UK, Malaysia, Norway, and India, are actively involved in research and publication, ensuring a strong academic and practical grounding.

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS: FOSTERING LEADERSHIP AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS

In an era of globalisation and rapid economic transformation, UCTC’s School of Business is dedicated to producing ethical, competent, and forward-thinking business leaders.

The School offers: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) – 1 Year (for BBA Graduates) / 2 Years (for Other Disciplines)

Students may specialise in Banking and Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management (HRM), Accounting, and Supply Chain Management. The curriculum aligns with international standards and emphasises practical exposure through industrial visits, internships, case studies, business competitions, and workshops. Regular sessions on CV writing, presentation skills, and career counselling further prepare students for the corporate world.

FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES: ENRICHING MIND AND SOCIETY

Department of English Language and Literature (ELL)

UCTC’s English Department blends academic excellence with creative exploration. The curriculum enhances language proficiency, critical reasoning, and communication skills. Students engage in debates, theatre, music, and sports, developing leadership and teamwork. Graduates pursue careers in teaching, writing, journalism, communication, and administration – both nationally and internationally.

Department of Public Health (Master of Public Health  – MPH)

The Department of Public Health aims to produce skilled professionals capable of tackling 21st-century health challenges. The MPH programme covers communicable and non-communicable diseases, health policy, occupational and environmental health, and epidemiology. Practical training, workshops, and advocacy initiatives prepare graduates for roles in government health departments, UN agencies, and international NGOs.

Department of Islamic Studies

Established in 2022, the Department of Islamic Studies offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees focused on Islamic knowledge, ethics, and research. The department seeks to promote Islamic values, intellectual exploration, and moral education, nurturing students as ambassadors of peace, morality, and social harmony rooted in Islamic principles.

ADVANCED FACILITIES AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

UCTC provides a fully digital and automated academic environment, allowing students to access grades, fees, and administrative updates through an integrated management system. The ten-storey main campus features 36 air-conditioned smart classrooms, Wi-Fi-enabled multimedia teaching systems, modern laboratories, CCTV security, and a central library housing over 10,000 books with seating for more than 200 students.

Vibrant Campus Life and Co-Curricular Activities

UCTC believes in nurturing both intellect and creativity. Students participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities through clubs such as the Cultural Club, Business Club, Sports Club, and Language Club. Departments regularly organise study tours, seminars, and national day celebrations, fostering teamwork and patriotism.

QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTINUOUS GROWTH

To ensure continuous quality improvement, UCTC established the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in 2020. The cell conducts faculty development workshops, academic audits, and seminars to uphold global standards. During the COVID-19 pandemic, UCTC swiftly transitioned to online classes and examinations, ensuring uninterrupted academic progress – reflecting its adaptability and leadership.

A FUTURE OF PROMISE AND INNOVATION

As part of its expansion, UCTC is set to introduce new UGC-approved programmes in Hospitality and Tourism Management and Textile Engineering. With its clear focus on creativity, technology, and quality, the University of Creative Technology Chittagong is rapidly emerging as a centre of innovation, research, and higher learning in Bangladesh.

“At the intersection of tradition and innovation,” said Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Zahid Hossain Sharif, “UCTC stands as a beacon of excellence – nurturing creative minds and preparing future leaders to make a lasting global impact.”
