Stamford University’s Permanent Campus Equipped with All Modern and Research-Oriented Facilities

With the motto “We Bring Out the Best in You”, Stamford University Bangladesh commenced its academic journey in 2002, after receiving official accreditation from the Government of Bangladesh. Located at Siddheshwari in Dhaka, the institution has recently begun limited academic activities at its under-construction permanent campus at Swadhinata Sarani and Avenue 05, Block-H, Green Model Town, Manda-Mugda, Ward and Thana–Demra, Dhaka. The distinguished academic Professor Dr Moniruzzaman, appointed by the Honourable President of Bangladesh, currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor.
PERMANENT CAMPUS
One of Stamford University Bangladesh’s most notable achievements is the commencement of academic activities at its permanent campus at Swadhinata Sarani and Avenue 05, Block-H, Green Model Town, Manda-Mugda, Ward and Thana–Demra, Dhaka. This initiative aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.The moment one enters the campus, a sense of tranquillity and serenity prevails. Surrounded by lush greenery and fresh air, the environment itself speaks of peace and academic inspiration. The new campus is designed to meet every standard of a modern, research-oriented, and forward-looking university, equipped with all contemporary facilities required for effective higher education. According to university authorities, construction work on the permanent campus will be completed very soon.
FACULTIES, DEPARTMENTS AND PROGRAMMES
Stamford University Bangladesh currently operates under five faculties with fourteen departments offering a total of twenty-nine undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. The university’s visually impressive Green City Campus, its emphasis on academic excellence, and its well-qualified teaching staff make it a leading institution for higher education.Among its faculty members are Emeritus Professors, 34 PhD holders, and 211 full-time lecturers. Additionally, about 30 part-time teachers from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Japan contribute to its academic activities through digital learning systems. The university fully complies with all UGC and Ministry of Education requirements and has earned both national and international recognition.
Programmes offered include Bachelor of Architecture, BSc in Civil Engineering, BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BSc in Computer Science and Engineering, MSc in Computer Science and Engineering, Master in Computer Application, Bachelor of Environmental Science, MSc in Environmental Science, BSc in Microbiology, MS in Microbiology, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Master of Laws (LLM), BSc in Business Administration, MSc in Business Administration, BA in English, MA in English (Preliminary and Final), BSS in Economics, MSS in Economics, BSS in Journalism for Electronic and Print Media, MSS in Journalism and Media Studies, BA in Film and Media, MA in Film and Media, Bachelor of Public Administration, Master of Public Administration Additionally, several UGC-approved programmes are in development, including Theatre Studies, Applied Nutrition and Food Technology, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, and the Master of Addiction and Rehabilitation Studies under the Stamford Institute on Addiction and Rehabilitation.
The university also offers Japanese, Russian, Chinese language courses and IELTS preparation courses. To ensure that graduates remain competitive in national and international arenas, the institution prioritises quality education from the very beginning. Scholarships are available for meritorious students from middle- and lower-middle-class backgrounds.
ADVANCED LABORATORIES AND LIBRARY FACILITIES
To complement theoretical learning with practical experience, Stamford University has already established 37 well-equipped departmental laboratories. These include Electrical and Electronic Labs, Pharmacy and Microbiology Labs, Civil Engineering Labs, Computer Science Labs, and 10 Architecture Design and Studio Labs.
The Department of Film and Media Studies is equipped with 8 professional cameras and 5 video editing panels.
Students also have access to five libraries, containing 48,000 books and 5,500 journals and magazines, along with research reports, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, handbooks, manuals, NGO publications, and a vast collection of electronic resources (e-resources).
RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS
Alongside academic instruction, research is a major focus of Stamford University Bangladesh. To enhance the quality of higher education, the Stamford University Research Centre (SURC) was established. The centre conducts research in various fields, including information technology, environmental studies, and biomedical sciences.
The SURC supervises and evaluates research work, facilitating publication in journals after peer review. The university has collaborative agreements with international universities and research institutions, enabling exchange opportunities for its teachers, researchers, and students.
In the Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index Ranking 2024, 46 faculty members from different departments of Stamford University Bangladesh were listed among the world’s top researchers. Through the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), established under the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), the university continuously works to improve internal academic standards. Among the thirteen Bangladeshi universities selected for the project, Stamford was one of the first three private universities to begin implementation.
Regular workshops on quality awareness are conducted by departmental self-assessment committees, often facilitated by UGC quality assurance experts. Each faculty and department publishes academic journals, while both teachers and students regularly contribute research papers to national and international publications.
ACHIEVEMENTS
As a research- and career-oriented institution, Stamford University Bangladesh has gained national and global recognition for its academic excellence and adherence to international educational standards.
According to the QS World University Rankings 2026, Stamford University Bangladesh ranked 25th overall and 11th among private universities in the country. In QS 2025, it ranked 14th overall and 6th among private universities. In QS 2024, it held the 15th overall and 7th private university positions.
In 2014, the Dutch academic publishing company Elsevier, through its citation database Scopus, conducted a survey among 150 private universities and research institutions, ranking Stamford University Bangladesh 24th overall and 4th among private universities. As of 2024, a total of 36,829 students have graduated from the university, successfully establishing themselves both at home and abroad. Currently, around 4,000 students are enrolled.
FOUNDERS
The university was founded by the late Professor Dr MA Hannan Firoze, a distinguished educationist, and Mrs Fatinaz Firoze, a respected philanthropist and education enthusiast. Inspired by the vision of global-standard education, they established Stamford University Bangladesh in 2002 under government approval, guided by the philosophy and slogan “We Bring Out the Best in You.”
At present, Professor Dr Farahnaz Firoze, a noted academic, serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Stamford University Bangladesh.
