The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across all eight divisions of the country over the next five days.

In a special bulletin issued on Saturday evening for the next 120 hours, the weather office said the trough of a low-pressure area extends from West Bengal to the North Bay of Bengal, creating favorable conditions for widespread rainfall across the country.

According to meteorologists, during the first 24 hours, most areas of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds.

Meanwhile, parts of Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Khulna divisions are likely to see moderate rain or thunderstorms. Some areas may experience moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The bulletin added that the rainy conditions may persist on Sunday and Monday. In particular, four divisions, including Dhaka and Chattogram, could face very heavy rainfall, which may disrupt normal life.

However, the intensity and coverage of rainfall are expected to gradually decrease from Tuesday.

Over the next five days, daytime temperatures may remain largely unchanged, while nighttime temperatures could fall slightly. From Wednesday onward, as rainfall decreases, daytime temperatures are likely to rise again, the extended forecast said.
