CHITTAGONG: At least 15 persons, including five cops, were injured in a clash between police and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Chittagong University (CU) unit centring for not allowing an expelled BCL leader to sit for examination on Thursday.
The injured cops are identified as Sub-Inspector (SI) Moshin Ali and constables Shariful Islam, Rafiqul Islam, Anwar Hossain and Imam Hossain of Hathazari Police Station while identities of the injured BCL men and general students could not be known.
Following the clash, BCL central committee permanently suspended two of the BCL men who were involved with the incident.
BCL central committee Office Secretary Delwar Hossain Shahjada told the daily sun that they suspended CU unit Deputy Office Secretary Mizanur Rahman Bipul and his fellow Assistant Secretary Abdullah Al Kaiser Shakil for anti-disciplinary activities.
Mentionable, the CU authorities suspended Abdullah Al Kaiser Shakil, a final year student of Communication and Journalism Department, for two years for his involvement in attack on a BCL man on the university campus in December last year.
The honours final examination of the department was scheduled to start at around 10:00am on Thursday.  But, Kaiser was not allowed to sit for the examination for the expulsion order against him.
Later, Kaiser and his fellow activists took position in front of the department at Social Science Faculty and reportedly barred examinees from attending the examination.  On information, CU Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury, also an associate professor of the department, rushed to the spot with police and tried to settle the issue.
