Mosque land grabbed in Manikganj

An influential person has allegedly grabbed a piece of land of a mosque at Alinagar in Manikganj.

Babul Hossain, a resident of the area, demolished a toilet of the mosque and constructed a brick wall on the land on Friday night.

Mohammad Golam, donor of the land, claimed that he lodged a complaint with police about the matter, but they have yet to take any action.

Golam donated 24 decimals of land to establish the mosque in 2011.

But Babul has claimed ownership of the mosque land adjacent to his land. Now he is grabbing the mosque land.

A police officer inspected the ‘disputed’ land after Golam filed a general diary with Manikganj Sadar Police Station on June 22.

The police have taken no measures to settle the land dispute though Babul has constructed a brick wall on the mosque land, Golam said.

Golam said that the chairman of local union parishad called Babul several times to resolve the dispute, but he never responded to the calls.

Babul has claimed himself as the real owner of the land, saying that Golam claimed the ownership of the land, showing a fake deed.

Mahmudul Hasan, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, said he has inspected the land and advised feudal parties to go to court as the police have no jurisdiction over the matter.
