Angry mob beat ‘thief’ to death

JHENIDAH: A suspected thief was killed in a lynch-mob attack at Boro Bamundia village in Kotchandpur upazila of the district early Thursday, reports UNB.

 

The deceased was identified as Faruk 40, son of late Abubar Hossain, a resident of Gazirhat village in Kalia upazila of Norail, and also son-in-law of late Shamsuddin of the same village.

 

Biplob Kumar Saha, officer-in-charge of Kotchandpur Police Station, said Faruk entered the house of Amirul Islam around 3:00 am and tried to steal valuables.

 

As the inmates sensed the intruder’s presence, they screamed out for help. Hearing the hue and cry, locals rushed in and caught the man red-handed.

 

At one stage, the angry locals gave him a good thrashing, leaving him critically injured.
