Khalid laid to rest in Gopalganj

Khalid, a popular singer and vocalist of Chime Music Band, was laid to rest in his hometown Gopalganj on Tuesday. He was buried in the city graveyard following a Namaz-e-Janaza at Court Mosque after the Zuhr prayers.

Earlier, the singer’s body was taken to the Ishak Complex of the city’s College Road area at midnight. Admirers and mourners gathered to pay last respects to the iconic musician.
The singer passed away at a hospital in the capital on Monday evening. He was 62.

Khalid fell ill due to a cardiac arrest at his residence in Panthapath around 6:10pm. Later, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Khalid was suffering from heart disease for several years.

Khalid Anwar Saifullah, popularly known as Khalid was born in Gopalganj in 1963. He started his journey in the music industry in 1981. He is best known for his songs “Shorolotar Protima”, “Himaloy”, “Kono Karonei”, “Hoyni Jabaro Bela” and others. He was the vocalist of a music band Chime. He joined the band in 1983.

Khalid gained popularity both as a band member and as a solo artiste. He collaborated with Prince Mahmud in his solo album titled “Ghumao”, which was released in 2007.
For the last decade, Khalid had been living in the USA. He is survived by his wife and son.
