BNP Joint Secretary General and Mymensingh District Council Administrator Syed Emran Saleh Prince has described martyred President Ziaur Rahman as both a tangible and intangible symbol of Bangladesh.
“He (Zia) embodied the country's glorious
history, political traditions, and ideological consciousness,” Prince said.
Prince made the remarks while addressing a
memorial meeting organised on Sunday afternoon in Haluaghat, Mymensingh,
marking the 45th death anniversary of the BNP founder and former President
Ziaur Rahman.
The event was organised by the Haluaghat
upazila and municipal units of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its
affiliated bodies.
Speaking as the chief guest, Prince said that
destiny, a sense of duty, patriotism, and the support and affection of the
people transformed Ziaur Rahman from a military commander into a national
leader.
“Ziaur Rahman’s life, work, and leadership
reflected both the historical developments and ideological spirit of
Bangladesh,” he said.
The meeting was chaired by Haluaghat municipal
BNP Convener Hanif Mohammad Shaker Ullah and moderated by upazila BNP Member
Secretary Abu Hasnat Badrul Kabir.
