Bashundhara Tissue and Bashundhara Shuvosango organised a tree-planting and sapling distribution programme in Singra upazila of Natore on Sunday, aiming to promote a greener and more sustainable future.
The programme was held at Lalor High School, where
saplings of various species were planted on the school premises and in
surrounding areas. A total of 300 students were also given forest,
fruit-bearing and medicinal tree saplings.
Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al
Rifat attended the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the programme by
planting a sapling on the school grounds.
“Trees are our best friends and the source of
nature’s vitality. There is no alternative to planting more trees to build a
beautiful, green and livable future for the next generation,” he said.
Referring to the government’s plan to plant 25 crore
trees over the next five years, the UNO said the goal should not be limited to
a numerical target but should instead create a mass movement for tree planting.
He praised the initiative by Bashundhara Tissue and
Bashundhara Shuvosango, saying their activities were expanding beyond urban
areas to remote parts of the country. He also called on other private organisations
to undertake similar initiatives to contribute to environmental protection.
He urged the students to plant and care for the
saplings both at school and at their homes.
“Planting saplings alone is not enough; they must be
properly cared for and nurtured until they grow,” he said, stressing the need
for collective efforts to ensure a balanced and pollution-free environment for
future generations.
Among others, Bashundhara Shuvosango Natore district
President Md Mostafizur Rahman, General Secretary Sushmoy Das, Bashundhara
Group Senior Executive of Brand and Marketing Md Rashedul Islam Rashed, Kaler
Kantho Multimedia Reporter Golam Rabbani, Lalor High School headteacher Md Mahbub
Alam, Bashundhara Shuvosango Singra upazila adviser Molla Md Emran Ali Rana,
and Lalor union BNP former president and school management committee chairman
