A Dhaka court on Monday fixed March 28 for delivering its verdict in the much-talked-about Ehushe Padak winning Photojournalist Aftab Ahamed murder case.
Judge Abdur Rahman Sarder of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 set the date after concluding the argument hearing of both prosecution and defence in the case.
A total of 20 out of 25 prosecution witnesses, including victim’s son Monwar Ahmed Sagar, testified before the court in the sensational murder case.
Earlier, the court framed charges against the six accused, including Humayun Kabir, driver of the slain journalist, on July 24, 2014, in the case.
The charge-sheeted accused are Humayun Kabir, Habib Hawlader, Sabuj Khan, Belal Hossain, Raju Munshi and Md Rasel. Of them, Rasel and Raju have been absconding and Sabuj is on bail while the rest of the three accused are now in jail.
On December 25, 2013, veteran photojournalist Aftab Ahmed, 80, was killed at his Wapda Road house in the capital’s Rampura. In his illustrious career, Aftab worked for the Daily Ittefaq for long.
